Vice President Candidates

Caleb Kelly 

          My name is Caleb Kelly, and next year I will be a senior. I'm running for the office of Vice President.

          I joined Interact this year on the advice of several of my friends. They told me i could be a part of an organization that gives back. I didn't know what to expect because i had previously involved myself in the community but had never really been a part of a group. Between the summers of 2016 and 2017 I spent nearly 350 hours in the heat of July working with organizations from across the southeast on an archaeological dig in sea pines. I spent 6 hours a day doing manual labor and relaying to the public the importance of preserving history in the greater Bluffton Area. While I truly enjoyed every moment of it, there's something to say about being able to serve french fries in the cool winter breeze of downtown Bluffton when I volunteered at the Bluffton Rotary Oyster Roast. In a sense, that's what i truly enjoy about this club. The ability to spend your time for the betterment of the community, while being able to have fun with friends. That's why i would love to run for Vice President of Interact, to contribute in a more significant way to the cause I've come to love; "Service above self". I believe if given the chance, i could truly help to promote the growth of this club. Service in the community can be such a positive experience and i hope to have the opportunity to not only share it with others, but to truly get young adults, the future of our nation, excited about giving back.         Four score and seven years ago, interact club was founded. Since then, we have been servicing the community and taking the steps to benefit the world. That said, just being a member isn't enough for me. I, personally, want to benefit the club and community, not just as a member but as an officer. I believe that i could help the Interact Club transform back into the embodiment of service and selflessness that it once was, 

        My role in this club would include assisting the president as a dependable shoulder to lean on, encouraging more people to join, building the bridge to a brighter future for this club, but most importantly, helping the community more. I've talked with current members of this club and they've told me they want to do more. I am determined to expand. 

        I want the Interact Club to do just that: interact. I want us to interact with other members, the school, within the community, the town, and eventually the world. But all that starts here, with me interacting with you. And I think it all starts with a single word: "Hello." So hello, my name is Elaine Guo and I'm running for our Interact Club's Vice President.
